Album Events
How Event Mode works, how to start an album event, and what plan limits apply.
#Album Events
Album Events turn a regular album into a live, shared collection for a single occasion. Share a QR code or link, let guests upload straight into the album from their own phones, and keep every photo in one place while the event is running. When it ends, those photos stay with the album, so the night lives on long after it's over.
#What Album Events are for
Album Events are best for moments where lots of people are taking photos at the same time and you want one shared destination for everything.
Common examples include:
- weddings and rehearsal dinners
- birthday parties
- family reunions
- school events
- team offsites and retreats
Instead of asking everyone to text photos afterward, you can open Event Mode and let guests contribute as the event happens.
#Starting an album event
- Open the album you want to use.
- Tap Event Mode.
- Choose when the event should start and end.
- Set an optional 6-digit PIN if you want guests to enter a code before uploading.
- Start the event or schedule it for later.
As soon as you create the event, LumiFrame generates a share link and QR code. You can send those out ahead of time, and guests will be able to upload once the event begins.
On the event dashboard, tap the QR code to open full-screen kiosk mode. It's handy for displaying the code on a tablet or TV at the venue so guests can scan it as they arrive, and you can lock kiosk exit behind a passcode so the screen stays put.
#What guests see
Guests open the event link or scan the QR code, then land on the event upload page. From there they can:
- see the event name
- enter the event PIN if one is required
- upload photos and videos directly to your album
- keep contributing until the event ends or the upload window closes
They do not need full album-management access just to contribute through Event Mode.
#Scheduling and ending events
You can start an event immediately or schedule it in advance. Scheduled events are useful when you want to print table cards, signage, or slides before guests arrive.
When the event ends, LumiFrame closes guest uploads and keeps the event history attached to the album so you can still review what happened.
#PINs, links, and QR codes
- Event PINs must be exactly 6 digits.
- The same event link can be shared by text, email, or printed as a QR code.
- If you already use guest sharing on that album, Event Mode temporarily adapts the guest link for the live event flow.
If a PIN is enabled, guests need both the event link and the correct code to upload.
#Plan limits to know
Event Mode uses plan-based limits to keep uploads predictable during large events.
- Free includes one lifetime discovery Event (Premium event limits apply: 10 GB and 500 guest uploads per event)
- Premium events include up to 10 GB total per event
- Elite events include up to 20 GB total per event
- Premium includes up to 2 album events per month with 2 concurrent live events
- Elite includes up to 10 album events per month with 10 concurrent live events
- Premium events accept up to 500 guest uploads per event; Elite accepts up to 2,500
- some accounts may have a different monthly allowance if LumiFrame support has applied a specific override
These limits are applied automatically from your plan. Even if an event is still running, guest uploads can stop once the event-level limit is reached.
#Best practices for a smooth event
- create the album before the event day and test the link once yourself
- give the event a clear name so guests know they are in the right place
- enable a PIN for private events or invite-only gatherings
- share the QR code in places with strong Wi-Fi or cellular coverage
- make sure your plan has enough event capacity for the size of the crowd
For events that are fully private, combine Event Mode with careful album sharing controls. See Sharing & Collaboration for broader access-management help.
